With a recurring knee ligament issue coupled with a torn hamstring, Kevin De Bruyne’s injury hit 2018-19 campaign saw a Manchester City career low of 32 appearances in all competitions, and left some wondering if he was capable of returning to his best.
Now following a summer rest, the Belgian midfielder has begun this season at a pace, with a statistic topping opening two Premier League games seeing three assists, leaving many fantasy managers who overlooked the midfielder now in a difficult situation, with the 14th most selected player currently 5th in total points.
De Bruyne sits in first place in key passes and chances created through two games, with the highlight coming in last weekend's 2-2 draw against Spurs with a sumptuous first touch far post cross picking out Raheem Sterling for the games opener.
"I feel good and I'm becoming better," De Bruyne said. "It's still the beginning of the season, so sometimes it's heavy [going], but I feel fine, so everything will be OK this season."
Similarly, forward Raheem Sterling sits tied top of the goalscorer charts with four goals in two Premier League games, looking set to eclipse last seasons tally of 17.
