Since joining West Brom in the summer, no midfield player in the top 4 tiers has a higher pass accuracy than Romaine Sawyers (94%).
Let's take a quick look at the St Kitts and Nevis international’s impressive start to the season with the Baggies.
To the amazement of many, not least Brentford fans, the rumours of the Bees accepting low bids for Sawyers became a reality this summer when West Brom completed the signing of the 27-year-old for a rumoured £2.7 million.
A boyhood West Brom fan, Sawyers has settled immediately in the heart of the Midlanders' midfield and hasn’t missed a single Championship minute this season as Slaven Bilic's men have charged to the top of the table 11 games in.
Despite lagging slightly behind Grady Diangana and Matheus Pereira in terms of media plaudits won, Sawyers has oiled the Baggies' engine room making the most passes (696), while also doing his bit defensively making the 3rd most tackles (18) for Albion in the second tier this season.
Sawyers doesn’t just pass for the sake of it either: the midfielder averaging the 4th most (1.3) key passes per game, despite his deep-lying central midfield role.
What's more, he's adding goals to his game - the former academy graduate grabbing his first senior goal for the Baggies in their 4-2 win over Cardiff City last time out.
It's impressive stuff from Sawyers - who is fast establishing himself as one of the best midfielders in the Championship.
