Chelsea moved into a temporary second place ahead of Manchester City’s meeting with Liverpool tomorrow, notching their sixth Premier League win on the bounce against Crystal Palace.
Tammy Abraham’s league-leading 10th goal of the season gave Chelsea a second-half lead against a stubborn Palace side, before Christian Pulisic’s fifth goal in five games secured three points that could make The Blue’s season start look even more impressive as the previous top two meet tomorrow afternoon.
Newcastle notched back-to-back wins for the first time since February, coming back after a superbly worked Harry Wilson goal had opened the scoring for Bournemouth. A thumping Deandre Yedlin header was followed up by a Ciaran Clark bundle to move Newcastle up to an impressive 11th.
Tottenham stumbled again after taking the lead against Sheffield United through Son Hueng-min, who found a way through Dean Henderson’s legs, before the Blades had two goals reviewed by VAR for offsides with both being incredibly marginal.
The first ruled out David McGoldrick’s opener, with a toe off in the build up, before George Baldock fired a curled pass into the back of the Spurs net to move the ever-impressive Chris Wilder’s side up to fifth, even though he’ll be disappointed not to take all three points.

West Ham’s season continued to unravel following their 4-0 battering by Oxford United in the League Cup, with a fifth defeat, and no wins in seven games following a comfortable 3-0 victory by Burnley where Chris Wood and Ashley Barnes both found the net before goalkeeping stand-in Roberto finished a miserable day with an embarrassing own-goal.
And on the South Coast, Everton picked up a much needed 2-1 win against lowly Southampton. Danny Ings had wiped out Tom Davies’ opener for the Toffies, before Richarlison’s far-post header made Marco Silva’s job look much safer following five losses in six league games.
