It was a torrid night for the English sides in Europe headlined by Arsenal’s painful 2-1 loss at home to Eintracht Frankfurt that leaves Unai Emery on the brink.

Pierre-Emerick had given the home side the lead in first-half stoppage time, but a brace from young Japanese star Daichi Kamada handed Arsenal their longest winless run since 1992, with Unai Emery now the bookies favourite to be the next Premier League manager to lose their job, as Arsenal are yet to qualify from Group F.

Things weren’t any better in the earlier kick-off, where Jesse Lingard had similarly given Manchester United a first-half lead away in Astana with his first goal since january, but an equaliser from Dmitriy Shomko and an own-goal from Dishon Bernard condemned an already-qualified United to a poor defeat.

And in Portugal, Wolves came back from a goal down to take a 3-1 first-half lead courtesy of Raul Jiménez, Matt Doherty and Adama Traoré before Braga struck back to claim a 3-3 draw which still qualifies Wolverhampton for the knock-out stages.

Celtic did the best of the British sides, with a 3-1 win over Rennes securing their place at the top of Group E, whilst Rangers will be disappointed that a double from Alfredo Morelos was only enough for a point against Feyenoord leaving Group G wide open.

Joining Wolves in the last 32 are APOEL, AZ Alkmaar, Braga, Gent, LASK, Sporting and Wolfsburg, with Manchester United, Espanyol, Celtic and Sevilla already through.

The highlights were substitute Ferdy Druijf’s qualification-securing double for AZ against Partizan, while Bruno Fernandes also netted a brace in Sporting’s win over PSV. Similarly in Portugal, Vincent Aboubakar netted twice in four minutes for a comeback win over Young Boys.
