Some serious early relegation six-pointers saw big wins in the Championship, while there was plenty of play-off movement throughout the EFL on an ever-busy Sunday.

Leeds: Extending their winning run to six games, Leeds go top, at least for a day, but more importantly, their consistency moves them eight points clear in the automatic promotion places. Two second- half goals made easy work of an away trip to Huddersfield with Pablo Hernandez getting his first goal since August after returning from injury.

Blackburn: Continuing to find form, Blackburn make it four wins on the bounce with a 1-0 home win. And it was over a Derby side going in the opposite direction, showing this run is putting them right in the thick of it as the business time begins.

Cardiff: Making it three on the bounce, and unbeaten under Neil Harris, Cardiff are quickly turning things around under their new coach. A 3-2 win over Barnsley moves tem eighth and and a point off the play-offs. But it should be noted the underlying numbers aren’t great. Low possession and shot counts show this run might not last, but it’s still plenty to build on.

Bristol City: Too many draws looked set to ruin Bristol’s chances of being a serious play-off candidate, but arguably their biggest result of the season to date, a 2-1 win away at Fulham moves them fourth, a place behind the Cottagers, but joint on points.

Luton: Things were looking beyond bleak for Luton with an EFL season worst 7-0 loss to Brentford after a four game losing streak. But the odd wins keep popping up at a place in table where victories are hard to come by. A win 2-1 in a relegation six-pointer over Wigan makes things look much more comfortable for Luton who are now four points clear of the bottom three.

Sheffield Wednesday: A double from Steven Fletcher moves Wednesday into the play-off places, leapfrogging Brentford who they beat 2-1 at home.

Blackpool: Recent fine form moves Blackpool up to fourth in the play-off places with a 3-1 win over a decent Fleetwood side. Armand Gnanduillet scored his 11th of the season showing he’s exactly the kind of player who can fire a League One team to promotion.

Exeter: Recent stumbles appear to be over for Exter who get themselves back in the League Two automatic promotion places, and doing in against one of the division’s form teams, Northampton, shows the early season leaders are back.

Swindon: Swindon stay top of League Two with a division best five wins on the bounce. Eoin Doyle scored his 18th in 17 games, with his teammates now backing him up as the league’s best player, showing they’re ready to fight for promotion.

Scunthorpe: Continuing a six game unbeaten league run, Scunthrope managed to score two away at a Forest Green side who rarely concede. Still in the bottom half, but the run they’re on, with this kind of result shows they might be on their way up quickly.

Huddersfield: Danny Cowley looked like he had his new side on their way to the top half of the table, but now winless in eight, Huddersfield are hovering a place above the relegation zone after losing at home to Leeds.

Fulham: Finally looking like one of the best three teams in the division ready to fight Leeds and West Brom for automatic promotion, Fulham’s winning run came to an end at home to Bristol City who join them on 35 points.

Stoke: Similar to Huddersfield, Stoke looked to have completely turned things around winning two on the bounce under Michael O’Neill, but three losses in a row sink them down to 23rd, with an away loss to inconsistent Hull.

Wigan: On the wrong end of a six-pointer, Wigan extend their winless run to eight games with a depressing away loss to Luton.

Charlton: Early season promotion candidates, Charlton continue to sink in the bottom half of the Championship table, losing yet another relegation six pointer to Middlesbrough.

Preston: Possession and shot numbers weren’t great for table topping Preston, and regression has caught up big time, with four league losses on the bounce dropping Alex Neil’s side out of the play-off places with a 2-0 away loss to QPR.

Sunderland: Just two wins in seven for Phil Parkinson leave Sunerland in 11th and yet another depression season looks on its way. Winless in three, a 1-0 against Gillingham shows Sunderland really don’t appear to have the consistency for a play-off push.

Forest Green: League Two’s previously best defence, and best home defence, took a huge knock in a 2-0 loss against travelling Scunthorpe, and a team that looked a lock for automatic promotion showed some serious fallibility.
