Chelsea midfielder Danny Drinkwater has signed for Premier League rivals Aston Villa on a loan until the end of the season.
The 29-year-old has completed a medical and will now join up with the Villans as they look to distance themselves from the relegation zone.
Drinkwater has won three England caps and was famously a key member of the Leicester City side that won the Premier League in 2015-16.
Unwanted in west London
Since moving to Chelsea for £40m in 2017, Drinkwater has failed to establish himself at Stamford Bridge and he spent the first half of this season on loan at Burnley.
He has played just 12 games for Chelsea in the top flight, but returned to the club after his loan spell with the Clarets ended this month.
"Danny was a key member of Leicester City's title-winning team and has represented England, so he is a vastly experienced player," said Villa boss Dean Smith.
"He will strengthen our squad significantly."
Drinkwater joins on the day that his former club Leicester host Villa in the first leg of the two sides' Carabao Cup semi-final.
