The next transfer to come under Playmaker's spotlight is Charlton's potential move for Peterborough United's mercurial midfielder Marcus Maddison.
After controversy and protracted off-field wrangling, Charlton Athletic's new owners - East Street investments from Abu Dhabi - are looking to inject fresh life into the Addicks on the pitch.
They haven't taken long to dive into the transfer market, reportedly having a bid accepted by Peterborough United for Marcus Maddison.
Although Posh have lost their way over recent weeks in League One, Maddison has formed part of one of the most lethal trios in England's top four tiers this season, alongside Ivan Toney and Mo Eisa, and it is believed that the Addicks have activated the £2.5 million buy out clause in his contract.
Linked here, there and everywhere
Further to speculation linking the winger with a summer move to Hull, Charlton have identified Maddison as the man to provide some trickery and delivery from wide areas - and it is not difficult to see why given his fantastic stats.
Maddison's record whilst playing in League One has been simply spectacular. The 26-year-old has played 248 games in total for Posh in all competitions and 62 goals and 92 assists is a remarkable return - Maddison on his day the best playmaker in League One.
Addicks additions
With Joe Aribo sold last summer to Rangers and talismanic striker Lyle Taylor set to move on, Charlton need to bolster their attacking options.
With the free-scoring Taylor injured for much of this season, Conor Gallagher and Macauley Bonne have stepped up in the goalscoring stakes for the Addicks this term, the pair bagging six and eight goals respectively. However, a creative and dangerous player like Maddison will add an X factor to their forward line that manager Lee Bowyer will hope can inspire the Addicks to regain some of their early season form.
Currently 19th in the Championship with 29 points, Charlton are only five points above the relegation places - so Maddison, if he signs, will need to hit the ground running to ensure the South Londoners steer well clear of a return to League One.
Marcus Maddison Update - As of this morning @theposhofficial has accepted a bid from @CAFCofficial who have permission to talk terms with the player. 2 other championship clubs have bid for the player multiple times & do not currently have permission to speak to the player. -
