The FA today announced all domestic football seasons below the National League North & South will be cancelled with immediate effect due to coronavirus disruption.
Leagues below the elite top four tiers had continued with sporadic action, but due to some sides still playing games to earn an income, the FA have had to step in to call off the season.
The FA said, "These are challenging circumstances for English football and all decisions taken are in the best interests of the game.
"Our primary concern will always be for the safety and welfare of clubs, players, staff, officials, volunteers and supporters during this unprecedented time.
"Today's steps take into account the financial impact during this uncertain period, whilst considering the fairest method on how the sporting outcomes for the season will be decided, with the integrity of the leagues in mind."
The FA, Premier League and EFL recently announced an ‘indefinite’ end to the 2019/20 season ending uncertainty over a season cancelation, and today’s decision is unlikely to have any impact. Although in such a fluid situation, anything remains possible.
