In the second Premier League game back after the coronavirus suspension, Manchester City beat Arsenal 3-0 at the Etihad courtesy of strikes from Raheem Sterling and Phil Foden either side of a Kevin De Bruyne penalty.
Both sides were expected to be rusty going into the encounter, after a 100 day absence of top flight competition, but Mikel Arteta will have been worried by the manner of his first away defeat as Arsenal manager - the Gunners' poor evening exacerbated by David Luiz' sending off early in the second half.
Sub standard
Luiz, who came on as a first-half substitute, was at fault for City's first: his failure to clear the ball leading to Sterling`s opener for the hosts just prior to the break.
The Brazilian defender then saw red for tugging back Riyad Mahrez on 49 minutes, an infraction that saw a penalty awarded, which de Bruyne coolly slotted home.
City sub Phil Foden then netted a late third for the defending champions, the young Englishman firing home a rebound after a Sergio Aguero strike.
Top boy! 🙌
