Manchester United eased to a 3-0 win over Brighton at the AMEX Stadium on Tuesday night to stay in the race for a Champions League spot.
After FA Cup victory over Norwich at the weekend, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men had little turnaround time, but they got off to a flyer with Mason Greenwood netting his sixth league goal of the season inside 16 minutes. By the half hour mark, the Red Devils were cruising when Bruno Fernandes doubled Man Utd's lead with a deflected effort past Mathew Ryan in the Brighton goal.
The Portuguese international extinguished any remaining hope Brighton may have had with an emphatic second-half volley, which rounded off a devastating United counter within five minutes of the restart. Since he joined Man Utd in January, Fernandes has now been involved in ten goals in all competitions, six goals and four assists.
This victory extended the Red Devils' unbeaten run to 15 games and they are now two points off fourth-placed Chelsea who travel to West Ham on Wednesday night. Meanwhile, Brighton remain 15th, six points above the relegation zone.
