Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish has put pen to paper on a new five-year deal with his hometown club.

Speculation had been rife that the 25-year-old midfielder might pursue a move away from Villa Park, but a statement on the Midland club's social channels confirmed Grealish is staying.

The England midfielder came through the ranks at Villa - making his Villans debut back in the 2013-14 season.

"It is my club, my home and I am very happy here," Grealish stated after signing his new deal.

"The owners have made it very clear to me how ambitious they are and how they want to build Aston Villa. There are exciting times ahead and I am very glad to be part of it, " he added.

Reportedly a target for Manchester United, Grealish made his England debut last week against Denmark and his new Villa contract will run until 20205.

"We are determined to build a top team around him and are delighted he is extending his contract and committing himself to the club he loves," said Villa chief executive Christian Purslow.
