Manchester City have signed Benfica defender Ruben Dias for £65m, with Nicolas Otamendi heading in the opposite direction for £13.6m.
The 23-year-old centre-back has signed a six-year contract with the Citizens and becomes City's second defensive signing of the summer after bringing in Nathan Ake from Bournemouth in a deal worth an initial £40m in August.
Last season, Dias made 49 appearances and scored three goals as he was named in the Primeira Liga Team of the Season and capped 19 times for Portugal, including a Nations League medal in 2019.
“To have the opportunity to join a club like Manchester City is a fantastic opportunity for me and one I couldn’t turn down," he said.
“It is really exciting to be part of such a talented squad and to play for a world class manager like Pep Guardiola, who has a proven track record of developing young players like myself."
