Manchester United put their dismal early season form behind them as they roared back from behind to record a 4-1 win at Newcastle on Saturday night.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side got off to the worst possible start when Luke Shaw deflected home an own goal within the opening moments, but - despite Bruno Fernandes missing a penalty - goals from Harry Maguire, Fernandes, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Marcus Rashford sealed an authoritative win for the Red Devils to take a little pressure off their Norwegian manager.
Saints peg back Blues
Earlier in the day, Chelsea dropped points against a resilient Southampton side.
Two goals from Timo Werner put the Londoners in control of the encounter, but goals from Danny Ings and Che Adams tied the scoreline at 2-2. German playmaker Kai Havertz restored Chelsea's lead, only for Jannik Vestergaard to turn home a Theo Walcott cross two minutes into injury-time to earn Saints a point that, on balance, they deserved.
Sterling sinks Gunners
In the other Premier League fixture of the day, Raheem Sterling scored the only goal of the game, as Manchester City won a tight contest against Arsenal.
The game pitted former City assistant boss Mikel Arteta against his mentor Pep Guardiola and the game was something of a tactical affair.
Captain for the day with Fernandinho on the bench and Kevin de Bruyne injured, Sterling snaffled the matchwinner on 23 minutes when he fired home after Phil Foden had seen his shot saved.
City keeper Ederson had to be in good nick, however, as he made three notable saves to keep Arsenal at bay and earn the hosts the three points.
