Scotland qualified for a major men's tournament for the first time in 23 years after an epic shootout win over Serbia in Belgrade.

Keeper David Marshall saved magnificently from Aleksandar Mitrovic to clinch a thrilling 5-4 sudden-death win after Scotland had been pegged back by a last-gasp equaliser at the end of normal time. The Scots had to endure a nail-biting period of extra-time, but prevailed in the shoot-out.

Ryan Christie's second-half opener looked to have been enough to earn Steve Clarke's side a Euro 2020 place, but a late Luka Jovic strike got Serbia back on level terms and forced the extra period.

However, despite tiring badly in added time, Scotland kept their nerve to score all five of their penalties and end a barren streak of 10 missed tournaments.

Clarke's men are on their best run in 44 years - nine games unbeaten . and will now face England, Croatia and the Czech Republic in Group D at next summer's delayed finals.
