Tottenham Hotspur moved to the top of the Premier League with a classic Jose Mourinho performance in a 2-0 win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium today.

Spurs got off to a flyer with a smart pass from Tanguy Ndombele seeing Son Heung-min through one-on-one with Ederson, who rushed out allowing the South Korean to swipe the ball between his legs for a fifth-minute opener.

But then Spurs went full Mourinho, shutting down the rest of the first half, gifting City one Aymeric Laporte goal that was later ruled out for a handball by Gabriel Jesus in the build-up.

And in the second period, it quickly became the Harry Kane show, with the forward being man-marked by Laporte, he gave the Frenchman a torrid afternoon, winning challenges and free-kicks, before running at the City defence with 25 minutes to play, and shifting the ball off to substitute Giovanni Lo Celso who replicated Son’s finish with a second goal of the game through Ederson’s legs.

Hugo Lloris produced a wonder point-blank save from Ruben Dias with minutes to go to keep the two-goal lead intact, but it was little distraction from a superb Tottenham performance, that moves them to the top of the league, with rivals City stuck down in 10th.
