Although the Baggies currently sit in 19th position, having conceded the highest number of goals in the division and with the worst goal difference, the stats don't tell the whole story - as 27-year-old Sam Johnstone has been a shining light during the Baggies' thus far tumultuous campaign.
The ex-Manchester United keeper has made 66 saves this season, the highest of any Premier League goalkeeper, as well as saving on average 65% of shots he has faced (4.4 per game).
With survival specialist Sam Allardyce now in situ at The Hawthorns, Johnstone is set to play a vital part over the remainder of this season - his impressive recent performances in away draws at the Etihad and Anfield underlining how important he is to the Baggies' survival chances.
Recent thwackings at home to Leeds (0-5) and Arsenal (0-4) suggest there are tough times ahead for West Brom, but Johnstone's performances this season suggest he at least is cut out for the Premier League.
🧤Leading Europe with saves (63) & saves from shots in the six-yard box (10) #WBA's @samjohnstone50 has rapidly been making a name for himself as the #PL's new star keeper.
