In a rather surprising turn of events, West Ham look set to cut their losses on £45 million record signing Sébastien Haller, with Dutch outfit Ajax finalising a £25 million deal for the French-born Ivory Coast international.

Haller was brought in for the huge fee following an eyebrow-raising 2018/19 season at Eintracht Frankfurt where he and strike partner Luka Jovic combined for 47 goals and made the Europa League semi-finals, however, both forwards have failed to live up to expectations, with Jovic also underwhelming at Real Madrid.

26-year-old Haller has notched seven goals in all competitions this season for West Ham, matching his goal total in 2019/20, but with the Hammers finally on the up for the first time in their recent Premier League history, they look set to recoup £25 million to help strengthen other areas.

Haller will become Ajax and the Eredivisie’s all-time record signing, eclipsing the £16.5 million that Ajax paid Manchester United for Daley Blind in 2018, with the Champions League regulars having plenty of spare cash following the blockbuster sales of Donny van de Beek to Manchester United and Hakim Ziyech to Chelsea.

West Ham also look set to offload Scottish international Robert Snodgrass, with Sam Allardyce planning to make the winger his first signing as West Brom manager.
