With two impressively high-quality goals in his first three games for Southampton, Liverpool loanee Takumi Minamino may already be making his employers regret shifting him down to the South Coast for the remainder of the season.
Dummying Chelsea’s defence before expertly slotting past Edouard Mendy, the Japan international snapped Southampton’s six-game losing run today, securing a 1-1 draw and continuing a quick start to life at St. Mary’s for the remainder of the season.

In his last four Premier League starts, Minamino has three goals, the first coming in a 7-0 thumping of Crystal Palace by Liverpool, and the second yet another brilliant strike on his Saints debut.
Liverpool, who are now undoubtedly on course to concede their title defence to Manchester City, continue to use Divock Origi and Xherdan Shaqiri as their impact substitutes, but the two have zero league goals between them in the Premier League this season.
Should this season become a dog fight for the top four and the return date of the injured Diogo Jota continue to get set back, Liverpool could well end up regretting losing their best support for a poorly functioning Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane.
