Manchester City extended their winning run to 18 games as they edged past Arsenal with a 1-0 win at the Emirates Stadium to continue their march towards the Premier League title.

The Action: City took an early lead in the second minute, with Riyad Mahrez outwitting Kieran Tierney, before beautifully setting up Sterling's flicked header into the corner of the net.

The Citizens started the game at a great tempo and Arsenal struggled to contain City's attack in what looked to be another walk in the park for Pep Guardiola's men, who could have been three up at the break.

However, Arsenal regrouped and started to blunt City's attacking edge - although they themselves struggled to create chances.

A second-half of few clear opportunities saw City comfortably protect their lead to stretch their incredible winning run to 18 games.

The Big Picture: City remain 10 points clear of second-placed Manchester United, who leapfrogged Leicester after a 3-1 win over Newcastle. Arsenal remain mid-table, 11 points off fourth spot and six behind sixth-placed Liverpool.

Both sides turn their focus to European competition next week: City play Borussia Monchengladbach on Wednesday in their Champions League last 16 first leg, and quickly follow that up with a clash against in-form West Ham on Saturday.

The Gunners take on Benfica in a Europa League last-32 second-leg after a 1-1 draw in the first leg on Thursday, before travelling to Leicester on Sunday.

Memorable Moment: Riyad Mahrez's slaloming run and superb cross for Sterling's matchwinner was a delicious moment of class in a game of few clearcut chances.

          xG: Arsenal (0.33) 0-1 (2.09) Manchester City

Man of the Match: Anyone from the trio of John Stones, Fernandinho and Ruben Dias would be a deserved man-of-the-match. But we'll give it to Portuguese defender Dias, as he has been an absolute rock in City's defence since joining the club from Benfica. With Dias alongside Stones, City recorded their 11th clean sheet in 13 games, which is some going.

Stat of the Day: Manchester City have equalled the record for consecutive away wins by an English top-flight team across all competitions (11), which was previously set by Pep Guardiola's side between May and November 2017.
