With Robert Lewandowski still out, the pitch was somewhat levelled up pre-kick-off as PSG lost their captain Marquinhos, but the advantage still lied with the French champions, 3-2 up against an injury-hit Bayern Munich side.
The Action: PSG started the second leg much the same way they began the first; taking the game to Bayern from the off, with Manuel Neuer denying Neymar from point-blank range.
Bayern fought back quickly with Leroy Sane and Joshua Kimmich both going close from distance before Neuer once again stoned Neymar with some world-class one-on-one play.
Neuer then beat Neymar again by denying a clever near-post effort, before the Brazilian finally found his way past in stunning curling fashion, only to be denied one of the goals of the tournament by the crossbar.
Neymar was then given another golden 1 v 1 opportunity by Kylian Mbappe, and again beat Neuer, but he was denied by the frame of the goal once more.
And just before the break, PSG were finally punished for their wastefulness, when Eric Chupo-Moting headed in the rebound from David Alaba’s shot for a 1-0 lead, tying the game on aggregate, but still trailing on away goals.
Alaba then nearly put Bayern ahead in the tie twice from distance either side of the break, before Neymar failed to latch onto an open-goal opportunity.
Neuer and Keylor Navas continued to show off their world-class goalkeeping abilities, but it was the latter who won out, sending PSG to a second semi-final.
The Big Picture: This really is starting to feel like it could be PSG’s year, teams often need to have gone close before proving they can do it, and Paris may well exploit last year’s final experience against a less wise semi-final opponent.
Man of the Match: It may sound odd, not only because he was only the losing team, but also because he’s yet to be mentioned, but Bayern’s Lucas Hernandez put in one of the best Champions League performances you’ll ever see from a defender, making four perfectly timed, last-man, goal-saving tackles.
Moment of the Match: Failing to prod in Angel Di Maria’s six-yard box pass into an empty net, Neymar capped off a stunningly dramatic display with the biggest heads in hand moment of the night.
