Manchester United have confirmed a deal to sign Cristiano Ronaldo from Juventus, subject to personal terms being agreed and a medical completed.
A tremendous roller-coaster in the last couple of hours, with Cristiano Ronaldo being close to join their city rivals Manchester City, but in the last few hours and according to reports, an intervention from Sir Alex Ferguson shifted the balance in the Red Devils’ favour.
The 36-year-old has returned to Old Trafford 12 years after leaving the club to join Real Madrid for a then world record fee of £80 million and will sign a two-year contract.
During his first spell for Manchester United, he scored 118 goals in 292 games, winning the Premier League title three times and the Champions League in 2008.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner, has so far won over 30 major trophies during his career, including five UEFA Champions League titles, four FIFA Club World Cups, seven league titles in England, Spain and Italy, and the European Championship for his native Portugal.
