Takumi Minamino scored twice as Liverpool eased into the Fourth Round of the League Cup with a comfortable 3-0 win over Norwich City at Carrow Road.
The Reds took the lead after four minutes as Minamino produced a sharp turn and finish from Divock Origi's knock-down from a left-wing corner.
The Canaries had a glorious chance to level the game, but Liverpool keeper Caoimhin Kelleher denied Christos Tzolis from the penalty spot just before half-time.
Origi doubled Liverpool's lead shortly after the restart, with a smart header into the far corner from Kostas Tsimikas’ left-wing cross,
Minamino put the game to bed with his second in the 80th minute, sliding into the area, finding space and poking home to confirm Liverpool's passage to the fourth round.
Next up, Liverpool return to Premier League duty at Brentford on Saturday while Norwich visit Everton.
League Cup holders crush Wycombe after sloppy start
Manchester City came from behind to thrash League One Wycombe Wanderers and reach the next round of the Carabao Cup.
The Chairboys took a shock early lead after Jason McCarthy rolled a pass across goal for Brandon Hanlan to tap into an empty net, after a scramble in City's box.
The lead lasted only five minutes, Kevin De Bruyne levelled for the hosts before Riyad Mahrez and Phil Foden score two quick goals in the final three minutes of the first-half.
Foden set up City's fourth with a cross for Torres, Mahrez added a fifth and youngster Cole Palmer scored the sixth and his first senior goal.
City have a tough set of fixtures ahead: three consecutive away games against Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool in the space of nine days.
