Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Fikayo Tomori found the back of the net as AC Milan secured a convincing 3-1 victory against Cagliari on Wednesday.
The hosts started better and managed to score around the 30-minute mark, with Zito Luvumbo stunning the visitors by rifling a powerful shot into the net after winning the ball in the box.
However, Milan remained calm after falling behind and continued to press forward and their determination paid off with two goals before half-time.
The first goal came as Christian Pulisic's cutback was parried by Boris Radunovic, but Noah Okafor was there to slot the ball into the net and then took the lead in the 45th minute when Radunovic's save fell to Fikayo Tomori, who capitalised on the opportunity.
Milan extended their lead on the hour mark when Pulisic set up Loftus-Cheek outside the box, and the English midfielder unleashed a powerful shot into the bottom left corner.
Loftus-Cheek's goal effectively dashed any hopes of a Cagliari comeback, and Stefano Pioli's men was never at risk of dropping points against the struggling side, which currently sits at the bottom of the table with only two points from six matches.
With this result, Milan move up to second place in the Serie A table, tied on points with Internazionale, albeit having played one more game.
