Fenerbahce have announced that they have excluded midfielders Mesut Ozil and Ozan Tufan from their first-team squad.
The reason for their exclusions is yet to have been revealed to the public but the Super Lig club have said the following in a statement:
“Our Football A Team players Mesut Ozil and Ozan Tufan were excluded from the squad as per the decision taken. It is announced to the public.”
Ozil has had moments where he has majorly influenced the Istanbul giants on the pitch but, more recently and more prominently, has struggled with fitness and form. The former Arsenal number ten has missed the majority of Fenerbahce’s matches in 2022.
Ozan Tufan had his loan spell at Watford cut short this season and has 65 caps in the Turkish national team. The utility man featured as a part of Turkey’s UEFA Euro 2020 squad but has been omitted from their squad ahead of their crucial FIFA World Cup qualifying semi-final playoff this week against Portugal.
