Ipswich Town have sacked Paul Cook after just nine months in charge. The former Wigan Athletic boss joined the club in March having taken over from Paul Lambert.
The Tractor Boys have had a high turnover of players over the summer and it seems that Cook hasn't been able to gel his squad together before his club ran out of patience. Ipswich are currently sit 11th in the League One table, six points off the play-off positions.
The dismissal was announced just after Ipswich's 0-0 draw at home to Barrow in the FA Cup, forcing a replay to be played at Holker Street Stadium.
The club's CEO, Mark Ashton, said of the departure: "Firstly, we would like to thank Paul and his team for their efforts in what has been a difficult transition period for everyone. I know how much Paul wanted to succeed at this club. However, following discussions with the board, we have decided a change is needed for our long-term interests.
"At this moment, there is no one lined up to replace Paul. There will be an extensive search to find the best replacement for the Club.
"I will communicate more to the media and our supporters on Monday."
Ipswich Town Football Club can confirm that manager Paul Cook has been relieved of his duties.
