The Premier League have confirmed that Burnley manager Vincent Kompany has received a two-match touchline ban after a red card he received against Chelsea on Easter Saturday.
Kompany will be missing from the dugout as Burnley face Brighton and Hove Albion at Turf Moor on Saturday afternoon but the other game within the ban is suspended until the end of this year.
The former Manchester City captain protested the referee’s decision to send off Burnley full-back Lorenz Assignon in that 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge before then saying the standard of officiating in the league this season ‘hasn’t been good enough’.
As well as his ban, the 38-year-old has also been fined £10,000 by the Football Association (FA) after admitting to the charge of misconduct.
Burnley had been enjoying a four-match unbeaten run of form before losing to Everton by a goal to nil at Goodison Park last weekend as a result of a mistake by Arijanet Muric.
The Clarets are firmly in the bottom three and the relegation places in the Premier League and they are currently six points adrift of safety with just six games of the season to go.
