An own-goal from Arsenal defender Jakob Kiwior and a late strike from Luis Diaz settled an entertaining third round FA Cup clash in Liverpool's favour at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday evening.
Billed as the tie of the round when the draw was made, the game had to wait 80 minutes for a goal, but there were no shortage of chances throughout - the hosts, in particular, wasting very presentable opportunities in a first-half that saw Martin Odegaard and Trent Alexander-Arnold hit the woodwork for either side.
After the break, the visitors' control of the game increased, Arsenal keeper Aaron Ramsdale saving well from Diaz and Diogo Jota heading against the frame of the goal.
After a host of attacking substitutions by Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, the Merseysiders made their all-important breakthrough on 80 minutes when Alexander-Arnold's whipped free-kick flicked off the head of Kiwior past Ramsdale.
The Reds set the seal on a thoroughly professional victory with a late strike from Colombian Diaz, who fired high into the net to secure his side's place in the fourth round.
