Barcelona talisman Lionel Messi has stated that he does not care about his personal records and would prefer to concentrate on the team's achievements, ahead of the FIFA Ballon d'Or ceremony later on Monday.
The Argentina star has been in great form having scored a total of 91 goals in 2012, surpassing Germany legend Gerd Muller's record of 85 strikes during one calendar year.
However, Messi was quick to play down his personal glories and insisted that he is more worried about the team's development.
"I'm not sure if this has been my best year so far. To be honest, I'm not that interested in my personal records, but in the team's success," the 225-year-old told reporters at the Ballon d'Or ceremony.
"My objective is to improve with the team, which of course is easier when you win."
Ronaldo
In regards to the rivalry between him and Real Madrid ace Cristiano Ronaldo, the Barcelona striker stressed that the two La Liga players are not competing against each other.
"We are not competing against each other. We just play and want to win titles with our teams. I want to play as good as possible for my team, keep on growing with them, and that's it," he added.
