Manchester United have won the 2023/24 Women’s FA Cup with a 4-0 hammering of Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley Stadium this afternoon.
In what was a fairly even contest for most of the first-half in which Spurs created quite a few good openings, United took the lead on the stroke of half-time through England international Ella Toone.
Spurs once again started brightly in the second-half but a free-kick hooked into the box by captain Katie Zelem in the 54th minute was met by Rachel Williams to double United’s lead.
Marc Skinner’s side continued their onslaught after that with it becoming 3-0 just three minutes later when Lucia Garcia got the first of her cup final brace.
The winger then added a second in the 74th minute thanks to an assist from Lisa Naaslund to complete an eventual rout of the north Londoners.
Both teams have endured fairly underwhelming Women’s Super League campaigns with them sitting fifth and sixth in the table as they head into the final week of the season.
It is Manchester United’s first ever major honour after winning the FA Women’s Championship back in 2019 and was watched by Avram Glazer at Wembley.
