Wolves sign Brazil international Matheus Cunha

Wolves have confirmed the signing of Atletico Madrid forward Matheus Cunha on loan for the rest of the season. 

Despite arriving initially on loan, when some clauses are triggered, the deal will make it a permanent move in the summer for a final fee of around £43million, according to reports.

When the move is finalised in the summer, the 23-year-old will sign a four-year contract with the Midlands' club which will keep him at the Molineux until 2027.

Cunha will be Julen Lopetegui's first signing since taking over, with Wolves currently bottom of the Premier League after 15 games.

With eight senior caps to his name for Brazil, he will join his teammates on January 1, when the transfer window opens.

On joining Wolves, Cunha said: “I’m really excited to be part of this group and to be part of this club – it’s a big club.

“I’m excited to play in the Premier League, to play in Wolverhampton, and I think the most important point is that I’m happy like a kid."
