With the Premier League table starting to take shape after five matchweeks, Playmaker takes a quick look at some blossoming top flight partnerships.
Last season, Bournemouth's pair of Callum Wilson and and Ryan Fraser struck up a beautiful understanding: the latter assisting seven of England striker Wilson's 14 goals in the Premier League. What made their towering twosome even more impressive was that it was a reciprocal arrangement, with Wilson laying on five of Fraser's seven top tier strikes.
It's obviously early days this season, but the early signs are that Manchester City and Norwich City have a couple of dangerous duos in their midst. Kevin Bruyne has returned to form in 2019/20, after a stop-start campaign last time out, and his return can only spell trouble for opposing defences...and goals for Sergio Aguero: De Bruyne already laying on three of the Argentinian's seven Premier League strikes.
The other deadly duo to date in the Premier League are perhaps more of a surprise. Teemu Pukki and Emiliano Buendia were tearing up trees in the Championship last season, as the Canaries were crowned champions of the second tier. However, there were big question marks over whether the pair could handle the step up in standard following promotion. It's fair to say that both Pukki and Buendia have emphatically proved any doubters wrong: Pukki with six goals in five games and playmaker Buendia with four assists already to his name...three of them setting up the Finnish finisher.
