Argentina clawed back a two goal deficit to draw 2-2 with Germany in a friendly in Dortmund.
In a carbon copy of the 2014 World Cup final, the hosts burst out of the blocks and opened the scoring when man-of-the-moment Serge Gnabry toed them ahead after a quarter of an hour with his 10th international goal in 11 matches.
Bayer Leverkusen's Kai Havertz side-footed home seven minutes later to put Joachim Low's side in control of the contest with his first international strike.
However, a spirited second-half display from Argentina earned its just rewards, substitute Lucas Alario's header halving the deficit 20 minutes after the break.
With time ticking away, Argentina kept up the pressure and debutant Lucas Ocampos' deflected 85th-minute strike won them a share of the spoils.
Germany, currently top Group C in their Euro 2020 qualifying campaign - level on 12 points with Northern Ireland - and Low's side travel to Estonia on Sunday looking to maintain pole position.
