Dismal England lose to Czech Republic

England's Euro 2020 qualification celebrations went on ice after a 2-1 loss away to the Czech Republic. 

Gareth Southgate made three changes to the team that beat Kosovo last month. Mason Mount made his full England debut, while Kieran Trippier was preferred to Trent Alexander-Arnold at right back. 

The Three Lions got off to the perfect start in the 5th minute when Raheem Sterling was fouled in the box by Czech Republic defender Lukas Masoput and Harry Kane made no mistake from the penalty spot to bag his seventh goal in five Euro 2020 qualifiers.

However, the hosts were in no mood to lie down, and the Czechs were level four minutes later, Jakub Brabec stealing in at the back post to score against a shaky-looking English defence.

With Kane's opener cancelled out, England continued to look nervous in possession and the Czechs were the better side thoughout the first-half.

After the break, the game was evenly-contested, but the Czech Republic always looked the more ambitious of the two sides and Jordan Pickford kept England in the game with a few good saves.

With a draw on the cards, 30-year-old debutant Zdenek Ondrasek came off the bench and marked his first senior appearance for the Czechs with a famous matchwinner - converting a low shot inside the area to inflict England's first qualifying loss in a decade.

In the other game in the group, Montenegro and Bulgaria shared the spoils after a goalless draw. 

On Monday, Bulgaria play host to England, while Montenegro travel to Kosovo.
