With January just a few mince pies away, Playmaker has researched Championship players with dwindling contracts who may attract interest come the turn of the year (decade!).
On 1 January, players with six months or less on their contracts can sign for another team if they choose to - committing to a new contract with a new club for the following season.
For years, the likes of Italian giants Juventus have signed top players who have run down their contracts in this way. The players hold all the cards - 'selling' clubs knowing they have little leverage in terms of haggling over potential transfer fees.
A well-worn path
Big names such as Paul Pogba, Kingsley Coman, Emre Can and more recently Aaron Ramsey and Adrien Rabiot have all opted to go down this route.
With this in mind, Playmaker combed through the squads in the Championship and found five players with little time left on their current deals who may commit to other clubs in January.
