Portuguese international Gedson Fernandes has completed an 18-month loan to Tottenham to become José Mourinho's first signing for the North London club.
Signed from Benfica with an option to buy at the end of the loan, Fernandes has come through the same youth ranks as the likes of João Felix and Bernardo Silva and is tipped for great things; here's a quick lowdown on what to expect from the athletic midfielder...
Although the type may be going out of fashion these days, Fernandes is the perfect embodiment of a box-to-box midfielder. Very athletic, Fernandes is fantastic at tracking runners and getting his foot in, and brings great intensity to the press.
In possession, he is more than willing to carry the ball; he is a skilful dribbler with a great turn of pace who can help his team transition quickly from their own half to the final third.
In terms of distribution, the Portuguese international's passing is an asset and he is also dangerous shooting from range.
One of the brightest talents from a country renowned for producing plenty of them, Fernandes only played 23 Primeira Liga games for Benfica, but is already regarded as a future star - earning two senior caps for his country to date.
Benfica have sold on the likes of Félix, Silva, João Cancelo, Ederson, Victor Lindelof, Renato Sanches and Nelson Semedo in recent years - and Fernandes looks to be cut from the same cloth.
Mourinho will be very well-acquainted with Fernandes' qualities and is likely to turn to take advantage of them quickly - with Moussa Sissoko and Tanguy Ndombele currently out injured.
Next up for Spurs are Nigel Pearson's rejuvenated Watford, who make the short trip to North London on Saturday having taken 13 points from a possible 15 in their last five Premier League fixtures.
