A lovely Juan Mata finish helped Manchester United edge past Wolves in an entertaining 1-0 FA Cup Third Round replay win at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.
Spaniard Mata followed an impressive performance against Norwich last weekend with another strong showing that was topped off by a dinked finish on 67 minutes.
An intriguing first-half saw both sides have their chances: Matt Doherty hitting the post for the visitors, who also had a Pedro Neto goal disallowed for a handball in the build-up.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's Red Devils were also a threat, however, Dan James missing a gilt-edged one-on-one with John Ruddy and Mata also having an effort well saved by the Wolves stopper.
Breakthrough
After the break, the hosts looked to apply pressure and James again went close with a left-footed shot that he dragged across goal.
The decisive goal came on 67 minutes - United winning the ball back in Wolves' half and Anthony Martial setting Mata clear: the Spaniard showing wonderful composure to draw Ruddy off his line and lift the ball into the net with a perfectly-executed chip.
A to-and-fro tussle ensued - United holding on to earn themselves a Fourth Round encounter against the winner of the remaining tie betwen Watford and Tranmere Rovers.
Rashford concern
With a Premier League clash against leaders and rivals Liverpool up next on Sunday, one worry for Solskjaer will be second-half sub Marcus Rashford going off with a back injury after just 15 minutes on the pitch.
In the other FA Cup replay of the night, Cardiff won a seven-goal thriller at Carlisle - the Bluebirds eventually prevailing 4-3 in Cumbria to earn a trip to Reading in the next round.
