The English Football Association today announced its season suspension has been extended until at least April 30th, while the 2019/20 season end date has been extended indefinitely due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The original suspension to all domestic games under the FA’s control was April 3rd, but it’s been put back until the end of the next month after a board meeting today.
The date, which is likely to be suspended even further, covers all Premier League, EFL and women’s games, as well as matches across Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland.
The FA also confirmed changes to their rule that states all games must be completed by June 1st, extending the end date of the 2019/20 season indefinitely, which has come as good news to the likes of Liverpool and Leeds fans, who seemingly no longer have to worry about a season cancelation.
There is increasing speculation that the Premier League and EFL will try to finish seasons behind closed doors at the earliest possible date, as other European leagues ramp up preparations for empty stadium football.
Our board has agreed to extend the 2019-20 professional football season indefinitely, with leagues and competitions now suspended until at least 30 April.https://t.co/tVh1EadOta
