Cardiff have bagged two of the EFL’s most impressive young talents this season, former Crawley striker Max Watters and Crewe captain Perry Ng, bringing the pair in the space of a few days to massively boost their promotion hopes.
Watters arrived in Cardiff on Saturday after making headlines across the country with a blistering start to life in League Two with Crawley, where he managed 13 goals in 15 games and topped England’s top four tiers in goals per 90 minutes, with a rate of 1.14 per 90.
21-year-old Watters was linked with clubs all over the country, but surprisingly put his decision down to the location saying, "When I first found out about Cardiff's interest I was immediately attracted to it. Wales is a lovely place to live, so it came down to that really.
"As a striker, you've got to score goals, and that's what I'm here to do. It's a big game at home against QPR in midweek. It's a shame that fans can't be here so I can play in front of them. Hopefully I'm involved and hopefully we can get the win."
Watters will be joined by Perry Ng, one of many highly-rated young English talents produced by Crewe in recent years, who joined the Bluebirds today on a three-and-a-half-year deal.
24-year-old Ng had become Crewe captain after a string of impressive performances since joining the first team, and has been seen as one of the EFL’s most accomplished right-backs, solid at both ends of the pitch and repeatedly leading tackle stats for the three tiers.
Cardiff are on a four-game losing streak after they’d previously looked to have found their form following a difficult start, but will hope these signings can return them to the playoffs, where they missed out on last year’s final losing to Fulham in the semis.
