League Two’s Newport County have received a massive boost to their promotion bid, with the arrival of Wales international Joe Ledley, who has signed a deal until the end of the season.
Ledley, who is best known for his four-year spell in the Premier League with Crystal Palace, has had an impressive career across the top two tiers of English football, whilst he’s also racked up 77 caps for Wales, making the Euro 2018 semi-finals.
Featuring in both the Euros with the national side and the Champions League with Celtic, Ledley brings a wealth of experience to Rodney Parade, upon his return from a brief spell with Newcastle Jets of the Australian A-League.
The 34-year-old drops down below the second tier for the first time in his career, and should act as a huge boost to a Newport side currently in the League Two play-off places and looking set to compete for automatic promotion.
Pending international clearance, Ledley is expected to be in Newport’s squad to face Leyton Orient today.
