Manchester United racked up a crucial win in the top four hunt, coming from behind again to record a deserved 3-1 victory over Tottenham on Sunday.
The Action: United got things started early but Edinson Cavani's smart finish from Paul Pogba’s pass was disallowed when a VAR review showed Scott McTominay had thrown a hand into Son Heung-min's face in the build-up.
Five minutes before half-time, Spurs took the lead when Son, making his first appearance since recovering from a hamstring injury, finished in great style after some good work from Lucas Moura.
After the break, the game retained a similar flow, but United grew in confidence and were rewarded with a leveller in the 57th minute: Fred smashing in the rebound after Hugo Lloris had made a fine save to deny Cavani.
United then went ahead as substitute Mason Greenwood's brilliant ball was converted by Cavani's superb diving header with 79 minutes on the clock.
In stoppage-time, the visitors killed the game, and extended their lead when Greenwood found a yard before firing a powerful shot past Lloris at the near post.
The Big Picture: On the back of this weekend's results, United are now seven points ahead of third-placed Leicester, although they are still 11 points off leaders Manchester City. Tottenham remain seventh, but are in danger of getting overtaken by Everton, who play tomorrow against Brighton.
Solskjaer's Red Devils will now turn their attention to the second leg of their Europa League quarter final at home to Granada on Thursday night, while Spurs visit Everton in the Premier League on Friday.
Man of the Match: Edison Cavani. The Uruguayan forward put in probably his best display in a United shirt. Always involved in the game, always tenacious and looking to hurt the opposition, he fully deserved his tremendous header after suffering the disappointment of seeing a first-half strike ruled out.
Moment of the Match: United's second goal was a tremendous team goal. It started with Aaron Wan-Bissaka picking out Bruno Fernandes, who silkily nutmegged Sergio Reguilon to find Mason Greenwood, whose lovely swinging cross was met by a full-blooded header from Cavani. Sublime.
Stat of the Day: José Mourinho has suffered 10 league defeats in a single season for the first time in his entire managerial career.
