All three EFL leagues have announced their Player of the Season shortlists, with some interesting names battling it out for the honours.
In the Championship, the league’s top scorer, Brentford’s Ivan Toney, will be competing with Norwich pair Teemu Pukki and Emiliano Buendia.
Toney is one goal from matching the Championship’s single-season scoring record, finding the net 29 times in 42 games, alongside providing 10 assists.
After confirming their promotion at the weekend, Hull City will be represented by their dominant central midfielder George Honeyman, of ‘Sunderland ‘Till I Die’ fame, and he will be joined by Jonson Clarke-Harris, whose 29 goals have helped fire Peterborough towards the Championship.
The third candidate, Charlie Wyke, is very much the Pukki to Clarke-Harris’ Toney levels of performance, similarly four goals back on 25, he’s been instrumental in giving Sunderland promotion hope under Lee Johnson.
Finally, in the fourth tier, Norwich legend Wes Hoolahan will be representing Cambridge after an incredible season rolling back the years at the age of 38, while his teammate and League Two top scorer, Paul Mullin, joins him, equalling Toney and Clarke-Harris’ goal totals, scoring 29 times in 44 games.
The Championship also announced its Young Player of the Year final three, with on-loan Blackburn winger Harvey Elliott competing against Norwich's Max Aarons, and Reading's Michael Olise.
The award winners will be announced live on Sky Sports this Thursday at 19:30pm.
