Zinedine Zidane will quit as Real Madrid for the second time following the club’s first trophyless season in over a decade.
The Frenchman won an unprecedented three consecutive Champions League titles in his first stint as manager between 2016 and 2018, before stepping down after disagreements with club president Florentino Perez.
He returned a season later though, winning the 2019/20 LaLiga title, but this campaign has seen a humbling defeat against neighbours Atletico in the title race, as well as a lifeless Champions League semi-final loss against Chelsea.
Madrid possess a worryingly old squad with the majority of their stars approaching their mid-30s, while they look unlikely to spend big as Perez’ failed European super league project was seen as the only way out of their financial rut.
Zidane would be a firm favourite to join another of his former clubs, Juventus, while Italians Antonio Conte and Max Allegri are reportedly admired by Real.
