France might have had some luck en route to opening their Euro 2020 campaign with a win, but still produced a dominant display worthy of their world champion name tag against Germany in Munich.
Paul Pogba had his head in his hands after just 15 minutes when he missed an open header from a corner, and straight after Kylian Mbappe announced his arrival, cutting in and stinging the palms on Manuel Neuer.
A simply sublime Pogba pass found later found Lucas Hernandez whose drilled cross was turned into his own net by Mats Hummels in the 20th minute, but France continued to show themselves worthy of the win.
Adrien Rabiot hit the post from a marginally offside chance, while Hummels redeemed himself with a brilliant tackle stopping a rapid Mbappe who had already passed the defender.
The returning Karim Benzema looked to have ended the clash in the 85th minute, but even an offside call failed to distract from France’s dominance, with only Serge Gnabry troubling them twice in the 90 minutes.
