Spain continued their below-par start to Euro 2020, with Robert Lewandowski’s second half equaliser keeping Luis Enrique’s side on the back foot in Group E.
The much-criticised Alvaro Morata maintained his spot up front in Luis Enrique’s XI, and put his side ahead when his finish, which was initially ruled offside, was given by VAR inside 25 minutes.
Poland, knowing defeat would make them the first side out of the running for a last 16 birth, eventually found their way back in the game when Robert Lewandowski equalised at the start of the second half, but Poland quickly shot themselves in the foot.
A controversial penalty award afforded Gerard Moreno the opportunity to restore Spain’s lead from the spot, but instead he struck the post, with Morata fluffing the rebound.
Things remain open in Group E heading into the final day, with Sweden in pole position on four points, Slovakia second on three, Spain on two and Poland one.
