Germany have been banned from training on the Wembley pitch ahead of their crunch last 16 match with England tomorrow, sparking outrage from the country’s media.
The decision comes following concerns that heavy rainfall combined with an added training session will damage the playing surface, and the same measures have already been applied to Italy and Austria before their last 16 meeting.
Nonetheless, one of Germany’s leading newspapers, BILD, has labelled the decision a ‘scandal’ with the German squad now staying in Nuremberg for an extra training session before travelling to London tomorrow.
There has been some good news for Germany though, with Antonio Rüdiger and Ilkay Gündogan both returning to training after being doubts for tomorrow’s match.
