Gareth Southgate has confirmed that Kieran Trippier will captain England against Andorra on Saturday in a World Cup Qualifier at the Estadi Nacional in Andorra la Vella.
The Three Lions beat the side ranked 156th in the world 4-0 in the previous game at Wembley. England are currently in pole position in Group I, four points clear of second place Albania.
The England manager knows exactly how Andorra will set up: "we know this is a specific challenge, breaking down a really packed defence, so we need the right types of players in the right positions."
"Always the first priority is the mentality of our own team - then how we break down the opponent," Southgate said. He also said that the game might not necessarily be pretty: "At Wembley the ball was only in play for 38 minutes. There were lots of stoppages, lots of injury breaks. We would like the ball in play for as long as we can."
"Then it's up to our players to break down the well-organised defence. The tactical discipline to make the pitch as big as we can is very important in a game like this."
This isn't the right time Trippier has captained England. The Atlético Madrid right back also lead his side out in a friendly against Wales last October.
