Bournemouth sign Robbie Brady

Championship leaders AFC Bournemouth have strengthened their squad with the signing of free agent Robbie Brady on an initial one-year deal. The 29-year old midfielder was at Burnley last season, but last played in March after suffering a heel injury.

Bournemouth chief executive, Neill Blake, was happy with the move: "to be able to sign a player of Robbie's experience and calibre on a free transfer is a coup for the football club."

"Robbie has huge quality and versatility to add another important option to Scott Parker and his coaching staff."

The Republic of Ireland international has been capped 57 times by his country. He began his career with Manchester United - making just a single appearance for the Red Devils - before playing for Hull City and Norwich City. In 2017 he became Burnley's record signing, costing the Clarets £13m - a record that was beaten later that year with the arrival of Chris Wood.

Brady played 87 games for Burnley in total. Last season he played 19 games in the league - contributing a goal and an assist but was released in the summer.

Scott Parker's Bournemouth face a trip to play Stoke City tomorrow, where Brady could be in line to make his debut for the Cherries.
