Salah scores hat-trick for rampant visitors

Liverpool humiliate Man Utd as they hit five at Old Trafford

A fabulous display by Liverpool saw them thrash their old rivals Manchester United 5-0 at Old Trafford, putting even more pressure on United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Action: Another impressive start by Liverpool left the Red Devils' hopes of a morale-boosting victory in tatters - the visitors racking up four first half goals to blow away their rivals.

Although now purely academic, United will rue the game's first big chance going begging: Bruno Fernandes blasting over the crossbar to waste a good opportunity.

From that point onwards, Liverpool embarrassed the Red Devils. Naby Keita scored the first from Mo Salah's through-ball with five minutes on the clock and a mix-up between Luke Shaw and Harry Maguire paved the way for Keita to feed Trent Alexander-Arnold, who found Diogo Jota sliding in at the back stick to double the Reds' lead.

The electric Salah then joined the party and scored a brace inside the first-half. His first on 38 minutes was a low sidefoot past David de Gea and the Egyptian then added his second five minutes into added time with a superbly accurate strike from the corner of the box.

Liverpool weren't finished after the break, with Salah claiming his hat-trick with a good finish after a great pass from Jordan Henderson.

Cristiano Ronaldo had a goal ruled out for offside before Manchester United's misery was complete when substitute Paul Pogba was sent off for a two-footed tackle on Keita just 15 minutes after coming on as sub..

After Pogba's red card, Liverpool controlled the game and left Old Trafford with a hugely memorable win.

Big Picture: Solskjaer is in deep trouble after this embarrassing defeat. After a busy summer window that brought with it expectations of a Premier League title challenge, the Red Devils have conceded 11 goals in three games, and they now sit eight points off the top of the table.

On the other hand, Liverpool have scored 13 goals in three games on their travels and move second, one point shy of leaders Chelsea.

Jurgen Klopp's side now travel to Preston for a Carabao Cup game on Wednesday before hosting Brighton on Saturday, while Man Utd travel to Tottenham next Saturday.

Memorable moment: Salah's first goal. Surpassing Premier League legend Didier Drogba is not an everyday occurence and reaching the milestone at Old Trafford will be special for the Egyptian star.

Man of the Match: Mo Salah. It has to be him...he scored a hat-trick, assisted Naby Keita's opener, and generally ran United ragged.

Is there a better footballer in the world at the moment?

xG: Man Utd (1.37) 0-5 (3.74) Liverpool

Stat of the day: Liverpool are only the second team in English top-flight history to win consecutive away games by a margin of 5+ goals without conceding themselves, after Manchester United in February/March 1960.
