The Tunisian football federation (FTF) has officially lodged a complaint with regards to their match against Mali in the group stages of the Africa Cup of Nations on Wednesday afternoon.
The match, which finished 1-0 against to Mali via a Ibrahima Kone penalty mid-way through the second-half, was chocked full of controversy throughout. The reason for the complain, though, is due to the referee, Janny Sikazwe of Zambia, blowing up for the match 13 seconds early.
Sikazwe originally blew for full-time on the 85th minute only to be corrected by his assistants, and then still blew before the full 90 minutes was up – with apparently no added time being needed.
No added time needed, despite there being two penalties and a red card going through the VAR process, as well as a three-minute drinks break and six substitutions.
Hussein Jenaieh, an official for the federation, said:
“We will do whatever it takes to defend the rights of the national team. We are not children.”
Tunisia’s next match is against Mauritania on Sunday afternoon, whilst Mali play Gambia in an earlier kick off on the same day.
