Steven Bergwijn was the man of the hour as the Dutchman scored two goals for Tottenham Hotspur at the King Power Stadium.
Brendan Rodger’s side opened the scoring midway through the first half through Patson Daka. Spurs thought they had equalised in the 36tth minute but Pierre Hojbjerg’s effort was brilliantly cleared off the line by Marc Albrighton.
Tottenham did equalise just a few minutes later when Leicester gave the ball away high up the pitch. A ball over the top found Harry Kane in behind the defence. The England striker still had a lot to do but did well to get past one defender and finish.
The match-winner Bergwijn came on in the 79th minute for Antonio Conte’s team with Leicester 2-1 ahead following James Maddison’s 76th-minute strike after a lovely move.
In the 95th minute, Hojbjerg found Sergio Reguilón with a long-ball into the Foxes’ penalty area. The Spanish full-back didn’t control well but the ball bounced kindly for Bergwijn to slam home an equaliser.
It looked like Spurs had won a hard-earned point but from the restart, Leicester immediately gave the ball away. A through-ball immediately found Bergwijn through on goal, he rounded Kasper Schmeichel and calmly slotted the ball in to complete a remarkable turnaround.
